Despite all modern technology, X-ray remain actual and method in radiologist tool kit. It has number of undeniable advantages and for clinical practice the most important are:
High availability comparing with CT or MRI;
Low radiation dose exposure comparing with CT;
- Low susceptibility to artefacts from metal implants and devices which is main challenge for magnetic resonance imaging;
- Opportunity to perform examination of various parts of the body in different posture, which includes standing up and under load.
X-ray is usually used in purpose to:
screening of the lung pathology;
development impairment early detection;
finding tumours and other neoplasms;
evaluation of fractures, dislocations of bones and the spine;
estimation of bone condition in patients with arthrosis;
in work-up of kidney stone disease ;
diagnosis of ENT-pathology.
Physician may order X-ray study in case of headache, shortness of breath, syncope, cough, fever, traumas, hormonal imbalance and many other.
Make an X-ray means to get a digital image of the target organ. So, patient stands in front of the tube of the X-ray system for a couple of seconds. In Medscan clinics X-ray examination does not take a lot of time and does not require special preparations. For the patient`s safety he or she should wear special protection with lead plates to minimize risk of exposition for other parts of the body. Medscan radiologist would tell you exactly where to stand and how to act during the X-ray study.
If there is no necessary preparation for your examination, you can undergo X-ray in the day of the first encounter. Otherwise physician would give you all advices about preparation to increase accuracy of the procedure and arrange an appointment for you. If you are making an appointment by yourself via our site or phone call, please, carefully read through "Preparation" section.
After any X-ray study the result is given to the patient. In case of digital X-ray system, the result may be written on the removable device like CD or flash drive.
Please, note that some types of X-ray require contrast enhancing to make visible all anatomical details of the target organ. Usually patient should take it orally, but sometimes it is injected intravenously. Human body excretes it with urine without any discomfort.
X-ray is a conventional, accurate and highly informative method of bones, internal organs and tissues examination.
It is performed with a special X-ray system consisting of X-ray tube and digital detector which processes a resulting image. The image allows to estimate condition of the bone or other part of the body. X-ray has a long history of clinical use and today with modern high-tech equipment it gets a new life with low radiation dose, great safety and optimal, great quality resulting images.
Expert X-ray study is performed by the most experienced radiologist and includes unique approaches to detect minimal deviance from a norm. Comparing with standard X-ray, one done with expert level equipment provides much more accurate image and has more credibility for physician and patient.
To reduce risks of repeated X-ray and unnecessary radiation exposure, we recommend to undergo X-ray study in Moscow only in clinics with modern equipment and get the information about used X-ray system before the examination. There are some contraindications, please, consult the specialist before the procedure.
